Who Builds the Engine Behind Your Automation?

A small, focused team in Sibiu, Romania, building trading automation software since 2019.

Formed Around a Specific Problem

Bureau & Sons was started by two algorithmic traders who had outgrown spreadsheet-based order tracking.

Bureau & Sons was founded in Sibiu in 2019 by two practitioners who had been running quantitative strategies on EU-listed equities and FX instruments for the better part of a decade. The frustration that prompted the company was concrete: every automation tool available at the time either required a dedicated server maintained by an in-house developer, or it locked the trader into a proprietary signal feed from the same vendor. Neither option suited an independent operator who had a proven rule set and simply needed a reliable execution layer. The first version of the engine — a command-line tool with a single broker connection and no dashboard — was running live strategies for three external clients by the end of 2019. By 2021 the team had grown to six people: two engineers focused on the order-routing core, one on backtesting infrastructure, one on integrations, and two client-facing members handling onboarding and support. The monitoring dashboard in its current form — the clean indigo-tech interface that clients interact with daily — was released in Q2 2022 following eighteen months of iteration driven by feedback from a beta cohort of eleven traders across Romania, Poland, and the Czech Republic.

How We Work and What We Do Not Do

Our process is methodical, our scope is deliberate, and our limits are part of the design.

New clients go through a structured onboarding: a one-hour intake call to document the strategy's logic, entry and exit conditions, and intended instruments; a sandbox deployment where the strategy is tested against at least six months of historical data; a risk-parameter workshop where daily loss limits and position caps are agreed and encoded; and finally a supervised live launch where our engineering team monitors the first 48 hours of live execution. We currently serve around 80 active client accounts across Romania and six other EU member states. The majority of our clients are independent proprietary traders managing their own capital; a smaller segment consists of small fund structures with two to five portfolio managers. Bureau & Sons does not provide investment advice, portfolio management, or any service regulated under MiFID II as a financial service. We do not generate trading signals, and we do not have visibility into the financial outcomes of the strategies our clients run — performance data belongs entirely to the client. Strategies that depend on extremely low-latency co-location infrastructure (sub-10-millisecond execution) are outside the current platform's capability, and we say so clearly during the sales process.

Four Facts About the Bureau & Sons Operation

Concrete numbers rather than abstract claims.

Founded in 2019

Five years of continuous platform development from a single Sibiu office, with no outside funding and no change of ownership. Every engineering decision has been made by the same core team.

Approximately 80 Active Accounts

Clients span Romania, Poland, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Slovakia, and Bulgaria. All are served from EU-based infrastructure under a single platform release.

Nine Broker Integrations

Covering major EU-regulated venues. Each integration is tested in sandbox before activation and monitored continuously for API-level changes by our integrations engineer.

Zero Custody of Client Funds

Bureau & Sons never touches your capital. Orders are routed through your own broker account under your own credentials. We see order confirmations; we do not see balances, withdrawals, or personal financial data.
